Timber — Thomas Allen, 2005
One of my all time favorite artists is photographer Thomas Allen, whose work I first saw in 2006 at the Joseph Bellows gallery in La Jolla. Allen is ingenious in his choice of material, using elements from pulp novels and other printed material to create still life images that transcend dimension with imagery that seems to move right out of the frame.
